Logic Pods for InfiniiVision 2000X/3000X, is there demand?
« on: December 14, 2015, 10:11:47 pm »
Hi, as the title asks.

For those with the 2k/3k/4K X-series scopes but without logic pods, what do you use instead and would there be a demand for a couple of cables with grabbers etc?

they are the same cables as the 54620c logic analyser and many others 54645d 54642d 54621d 64622d 7xxx amd 6xxx series

your biggest problem will be finding the woven flatcable

Yeah and it seems Keysight has started to sell a new cheaper made logic cable. No more woven cable.

All of those cost too much second hand, or maybe I have a wrong sense of reality but I won't pay $200.
So it got me thinking that perhaps others would like a cable too.

I might be able to get a couple of those older ones and source HP grabbers etc. but I don't want 10 cables for myself.

I'd check Ebay first. There are usually a couple for sale but I don't get the impression they sell fast. Your best chance are people who liberated the options on their scopes.
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.

Hi, Daniel from Keysight here.  What specifically are you looking for?  Basically, are you wanting an MSO ribbon cable + flying leads?  I'd go looking on ebay, etc., for an old HP logic analyzer with cables.  Our 40 pin connector has kept the same footprint over the years.

Also, I'm partial to the new cable over the old ones. It's a lot easier to use just a few channels and wrap the other unused channels out of the way.

I think it's N2756A for the 16-Ch version

Hi Daniel, thanks for helping. Yes I am basically looking for the 'old' 54620-style cable.
And I don't see how you could prefer the new one since you can't even remove/exchange the test leads like with the old pods, but I can understand if it's a matter of saving production cost.

Looks like the new cable comes under the criminal act of 'Robbery with violence '

Twisted pair ribbon cables are readily available: http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/1700%2F34%20100SF/MC34F-5-ND/145356 Not cheap, but still cheaper than an original cable.

I agree these cables aren't exactly cheap, but they are in effect a set of 16, matched, x10 passive scope probes. They aren't just a length of ribbon cable with grabbers on the end. See pages 91-97 in the 2000 X-Series user's Guide.
