J-FET 2SK932-24
« on: November 17, 2017, 08:41:13 pm »
Dear all,
The famous j-FET BF862 is now discontinued. It has been a long lasting working horse for many people working in the high impedance world.
Very favorable gm/ Cgs ratio and good low frequency are some of the major reason for its success.
The very recent On Semi 2sk932 shows similar specs and I decided to test some of its properties this week.
the 2SK932 is splitted into 3 Idss ranges. I went for the Higher Idss range : 14.5mA to 24mA at Vds=5V
I run my boards  at Vds = 2.5V. Therefore, all tests were realized at Vgs=0 and Vds =2.5V leading to lower values of Idss.
I bought 2 reels in 2 months and looked at 150 samples.
The mean measured Idss was 17.1 mA with a RMS of only 1.2 mA .
Such a low dispersion in the Idss distribution is pretty impressive for a j-FET and was worth mentioning I think.
I could match tens of pairs of 2sk932 easily.
The meaured gm was very close to 50mS for all samples.
