Sanwa PC 773 Multimeter - (and hello world!)
« on: June 20, 2016, 03:25:35 am »
Hello to everyone !

Since this is my first post in the EEVblog community I might as well present myself.

My name is Pablo, I am 27 years old, and I live in Argentina and after years of watching Dave`s videos, I finally decided that it would be nice to get into electronics, at least from a enthusiastic hobbist point of view!
Even tho I do not have any formal education in electronics engineering (I do in process/chemical engineering), I have been always interested in the subject, so what better way to get started than a little project? (nothing to get excited about, just a little power supply!)

As in any project, basic tools are needed. To adress this issue got myself a multimeter, trying to balance measurement performance and safety (or was it cost?.. oh well).

After watching reviews, teardowns, whats available on the local market, as thread subject says, got myself a Sanwa PC 773 multimeter  :-DMM (in the hopes of it being decent).

Since the tradition of the EEVblog is not turning on stuff, but taking them apart... Attached are some pictures of the multimeter partially opened.

I am no specialist to judge, therefore it would be really nice to have everyones insights on this multimeter, what do you think of the design, safety, and claimed performance !
At least the build quality feels OK, lettering looks good. Actually, the injection molding and rubber overmolding look really good on this unit.

Specwise, the following is claimed: 11.000 counts true-RMS multimeter. Spec details in the  following link: http://overseas.sanwa-meter.co.jp/items/detail.php?id=17#

All comments are welcome ! Thanks everyone in advance !

Cheers, Pablo.

A very nice meter. It should last a long time. The Japanese tend to make products that won't kill their users. >:D
