Siglent SDG2042X bug on SYNC output
« on: September 18, 2017, 05:42:23 pm »
2.01.01.23R5

Greetings all ... just purchased a Siglent SDG2042X and SSA3021X spectrum analyzer. I have stumbled on what is surely a bug in the Modulation section. When active, the SYNC function on the Aux Out connector should output a 50ns pulse at the AM modulation frequency. It does so until the carrier frequency exceeds 10 Mhz and then an error message is displayed 'Cannot output a SYNC signal larger than 10 Mhz' and SYNC is then disabled. The SYNC pulse is at the modulation frequency well below 10 Mhz. It would appear that the limit checking routine is flagging the carrier and not the modulation frequency. This is a bug. I use similar generators that behave correctly.

Other annoyances are the limits on the SYNC output. It is not available for BURST modes and I would have loved to see a MARKER function during SWEEP operations that pulses as the sweep passes thru the MARKER frequency when using internal triggering. Of great value when sweeping filters.

Perhaps I can somehow pass on my observations to Siglent?

Hello,

I am checking with the factory on this.
I'll let you know what I find out.

We have passed this on to the engineering manager for this model.
