Siglent SDS2204X Mods
« on: June 05, 2018, 10:27:00 am »
Dears,

looking for someone who has already manage to access the mentioned device above
(including all SDS2000X devices) via lan (telnet or ssh) in order to dump the FW.

According to some internal infos, you could obtain the factory mode by using the same
way you need to enter debug mode of android, means press a certain button several times.

If someone had already reveal this combination, would be fine to share this with all.

Thanks for corresponding infos that will help.

Markus

FYI,

as I was not able to login via telnet on port 23, I had take a look into the programming guide.
Programming Guide For Digital Oscilloscopes Series
http://www.siglent.com/ENs/down.aspx?id=28
The port 5024 is open for commands like *IDN?, see page #12. but could mot be detect by nmap
port scanner.

Looking forward to get new details how to enter the OS.

Markus

FYI,

according to a YT video the BW limitation of the 70MHz/100MHz/200MHz models
(SDS207X, SDS210X,  SDS220X) could be disabled by removing a SMD cap. from
the front end amp.

Is someone able to confirm this statement?

Answer me this:

Does this scope model have a license input menu?

Is it for Options and/or BW ?

Does Siglent provide upgrade licenses for this equipment?

Yes.

Only Options.*

No.  ;)

*In some FW Changelog a long time ago BW upgrade was listed but we haven't seen it since. It may have been removed or hidden.

The available options are these ones?

P/F-OUT
AWG
Decode
MSO
PAS

When was the last version with a BW license menu? Or was it inserted in the same place as the options? Can you provide a picture of the Sistem Info with the options active/inactive?

P/F-OUT I think is Pass/Fail and has been a free feature (not option) since.......forever AFAIK.

There is NO visible BW upgrade feature in the GUI.
markus_jlrb can provide the Option Info screenshot as it saves me needing to dig my SDS2304X out.  :)

Does the "insert option license" menu becomes disabled after all options active?

Or is it still enabled?    ;)

Markus,
Attached is the Blackfin code of the last FW version available.

Sorry I can't remember.  :(

My 2304X was fully optioned until PAS (Power Analysis) was included in a recent FW version. It still could be accessed in a special 'test' mode while PAS was still in beta development though.
PAS is by far the most expensive of the options and has very powerful capabilities.

A software option could switch in or out a bandwidth limiting capacitor/filter.
If it runs on Linux, there is some hackability in it.

Just in case these are still of interest, I attached relevant screenshots. (Latest firmware version.)

I also do not know what happens to the "install" button once all option licenses are installed (since I also do not have the PAS license), but judging how it shows for the already installed options ("Installed" and still with the blue arrow, even if pushing that button actually does nothing in such case), I'd guess that button just keeps on showing for all options.

That one is called "System status" (iirc), and only shows:
* startup times
* software, FPGA, and hardware versions
* product type ("SDS2304X")
* serial no and scope id

Nothing that tells about options or bandwidth (except the product type numbering revealing the nominal bandwidth). Screenshot would not really tell anything more (except the actual values for each field, but they are not of any use here).

I couldn't find any other informative pages or menus, but then again, I'm no pro, so I could have missed something somewhere.

Apparently: four hex digits - four hex digits - four hex digits.  E.g. f00b-123f-5d3a (and no, that is not my scope's id, just random digits in the same format).

BW upgrades for 2kX are not available after sale. They've never been offered as an option by Siglent.

That may force a patch to the FW...

Hi tv84,

how was it possible to patch the firmware to enable all options? I crawled through the archives but didn't find anything which is clear as soon as I learned that the SDS2kX has the Blackfin architecture (although you were able to run uClinux on it which is dead now).

Regards ew
