TC1 Transistor Checker not recognizing SCR - Please help
« on: January 18, 2018, 05:01:14 pm »
Hi.

I bought a TC1 transistor checker from banggood. It seems fine as I can measure bjts, mosfets, capacitors fine. However, i came across a thyristor or SCR , TYN612M, when I measure it the checker shows a BJT transistor with hfe, Ic, and Vbe of 0.
The SCR is new and working fine. Also tested with DMM to make sure.

Does anyone have any idea why is this?
I dont understand the method the tester uses to identify the parts so, im not sure if I can troubleshoot it.

Most likely, it doesn't have high enough gate sensitivity for the tester to be able to identify it correctly:

Use the search option inside the thread for SCR.

From what I read on the thread, the tester will detect SCRs with gate current sensitivity less than 5 or 6 mA. The datasheet of the one I am testing says 1.5/5 mA.

Im a bit confused.
