I use a 180,000 BtU forced air torpedo kerosene/diesel/jet fuel burner to heat my garage for the last 20 years. No problems.  I just give it room, ventilate the room a bit, and keep flammable liquids closed in containers.

At least I'm still older than my test equipment

Well something went right for once. Thanks to some help on tekscopes, I got to the cause of the sweep problems on the 475A. U600 was iffy. Stuffed the sweep IC from the 465 with the hopelessly broken attenuators in it and it works perfectly.

Will need to stick the fan out of the 465 in it as the 475A is knackered (might be the root cause of the failed U600!) and clean it up and should be good to go.

Yeh, I saw the thread on there, glad that there managed to help you :-+ They don't seem to like the digital ones like TDS210 on there though, the chat is mainly about the older analogue ones. Is the U600 near the fan then?

Yeah I wouldn't discuss the digital ones on there. Might cause some despair. Even ICs is pushing it ;)

U600 is on the other side to the fan but the fan is totally buggered on it. Sounds like a hamster going round on a wheel  :-DD

bd139, you the man! :-+  :-+ Using your calculated resistance values and the 450V LR8 regulator with 220VDC in I get a fully adjustable and surprisingly stable 190VDC! Perfect!  :-/O

I added some capacitance on the input and output (10uf/250V each) but other than that it's your design. Thanks pal....I now have a stable 190VDC source for my volt-nuttery. All I have to do now is get it mounted into a case.   :-DMM

And good deal on getting the 475 fixed.  :-+

Cool stuff. Good to hear it worked  :-+

Quick victory shot before it blows a tant or something. I haven't cleaned it yet other than the fan tray on the back which appears to have solved the annoying fan rattling.

DM44 works properly. I have to read the manual every time I use the time and 1/time setting so I'll check that later. Probably knackered knowing my luck  :-DD

If it's any consolation I have no idea if the time function on my DM44 works properly either. Never use it and haven't tested it (although I do have the DM44 manual).

Contrary to common belief, the beer is only warm in the North. We can afford fridges down South ;)

Cold beer is drunk by foreigners (because they don't know any better) and children (who don't like bitter flavours; hence Babycham!).

Now that blue touchpaper is lit, I'll retire to a safe distance.

I too liked cold beer from an early age. I even at one time brew my own beer, tasty it was too, and even more so cold. Good luck finding a pub that sells warm beer over this side of the pond unless the cooler is broken  :-DD

Good job on the 475, did you swap the part with 465?

I used to brew cider with supermarket apple juice, sugar and bread yeast in those large glass lucozade bottles under my bed. Use a condom and a cable tie as an air lock. Comes out quite noxious if you do it right. And don’t get caught  :-DD

Yes swapped the timebase IC with the 465. 465 one was earlier revision but seems to work fine.

Beer is for hillbillies and woodchucks with no sense of taste. If it's not worth drinking a good bourbon or brandy, it's not worth drinking to.  >:D

Good luck quenching your thirst on a hot day then with a bourbon or a brandy no matter how good they are. Their more for the discerning drinker as a means of socialising / unwinding rather then a long thirst quencher with nice side effects   :-DD

In other news, Just about putting the finishing touches to the repairs on a 1/24 model Routemaster open top bus that arrived this morning with transit damage  :palm:

You haven't had a good Long Island Iced Tea then.   >:D Nothing quenches a thirst like that; plus several will light you right up.  :-DD

And remember... I live in Tejas; this is where they have developed iced tea and lemonade to an art form. They invented saccharine (bleccch!) and cyclamates (Yummmmm... crapshooting with the big C!)  while looking for a sweetener that would dissolve in iced drinks. You don't HAVE TO intoxicate yourself with the same drink you use to quench your thirst; you can choose to be more civilized.  ;)

And then of course, our cousins in the Hawaiian islands and South Seas have just OODLES of concoctions full of fruit juice and fermented fruit juice that will both quench your thirst and knock you on your arse like a tsunami.

So really... I have no more use for beer; it has used up all my charity.  :-//

:-DD

Yes, that would be another case of the "nice side effects" Specmaster was talking about...  :-DD

Mmmm.... "Guinness: The beer that eats like a meal!" So thick, they hadda put a glackett in it!  :-DD

I'll let others take up the debate over the differences between "beer" and "stout"; I've heard them all, but I don't care.  :P

Shame on you, being a Londoner you should know the difference between a Dennis Enviro 400 and AEC Routemaster better then most  :-DD

Heres a photo of the Dennis Enviro 400

and here's a Routemaster

Yeah I know that. I couldn't find a picture of a crashed Routemaster  :-DD

My father was actually a Routemaster driver in London until he tossed it in and opened a computer import business in the early 1980s.
