In celebration, I have a few items inbound: Power Designs 5020 precision power supply, Power Designs 2020B precision power supply, and HP E3611A power supply. Somebody help me. It's over-powering. :-DD

I think I ascended to a new level of TEA this morning. I couldn't find the cord that goes with my bathrobe, so rather than risking a scalding tea or cooking oil incident I made sure the robe covered me up to the point of decency, looped a stackable banana plug lead around myself and the robe, plugged the lead it into itself and went about my business.

Stackable Banana Belt
+5 conductivity
+2 fashionability
35% chance of causing mild headshaking

When I saw a former co-worker (temporarely) fitting H05v-k wire as laces in his Docs, I made him crimp ferrules to the ends.

With the capacitor replaced in my 3456A i decided to clean it up slightly. Imagine my surprise when read the cal sticker and saw Martin Merrietta, as in Lockheed Martin.

Previously i hadn't paid attention to it because the label was partially folded over,  cloak and dagger at it's finest when even labels hold tight to their secrets.  :-DD

Now for something completely different (or not): Two free Tek 2465B projects to a good home in the US.

On a power trip, are you?

Seems so.

However, I have a bad feeling about the two PDs.
  • Mechanical specs for one: 8-3/8" x 4-3/4" x 11-5/8", 13 lbs.
  • Package information for two: 17" x 13" x 10", 27.3 lbs.  :scared:
I specifically noted on the purchase invoice to pack them well to prevent damage. I'm not optimistic. :palm:

Yeah, doesn't bode well. Hope they have a safe journey to you, it would be a shame if the mail system broke them.

Also, thanks bitseeker for pointing out that opportunity.

Sure thing. I'd love to resurrect those 2465B's, but alas, I don't have the time or space. So, I shall enjoy them vicariously through your posts. ;D

Looks like they're coming FedEx Ground. Fortunately, they only have a few hundred miles to get here and should arrive by the end of the week. I'll let you know what transpires. Still scared. I guess that's a different form of TEE: Test Equipment Empathy.

Oooooh... the e-hoarder in me wants them both ("TWO, count 'em TWO BEES?!? SQUEEEE!!!") , but I'm unfortunately in the process of downsizing my workbench due to family needs. I passed my chance on to neo; I think he'd be a good keeper of these historical artifacts.

Ironically, when I first joined the forum, I was on the lookout to purchase a nice B. Since then, I've bought a digital scope and all kinds of other lab gear and have now passed on two free B's (freebies!). Maybe someday...

On positive side, packing materials are very lightweight so they may be perfectly safe and arrive in good condition, think positive thoughts [emoji41]

Yeah, though I'm worried about the space remaining in the box for enough of said lightweight protective materials.

Alternative positive thought: I may be receiving lots of spare parts for future PD repair projects.

In other positive news: The main TEA post is now ranked #10 most thanked.

Well... FWIW... If I were going to pack two such items together in one shipment, I'd probably tape them very tightly to each other so I could wrap the combined units as a single object. That, and if it's possible your 13 lb weight is a shipping weight including carton, then you might be in good stead.

Best of luck,

mnem
Alternately, moo.

I'm getting nervous with those free B's, not the waiting for a verdict but the other contenders who see them only as parts.  :-DD

EDIT: I got one, now to patiently wait for it to come.   ^-^

Seems I am eating Beans again for the next week.

I really 'needed' a Null Voltmeter to get a 'set' of vintage DC measuring gear sorted.

Today I gave up waiting for a sensible price (including shipping) on a HP 419A and brought my first ever bit of Fluke gear in an 895A  :palm:
