200 pages of TEA, 200 pages of madness lunacy and giving booze to alcoholics or in this instance test equipment to test equipment addicts.

Perhaps somewhat significant over 100 pages of my own involvement here.
I keep thinking about adding BISCUIT or BISCUITS to mark the occasion but I'm struggling to fit it all together, something like
BISCUIT = Better Inspect Safety Conditions (or Caused) by Using Inferior Tants Syndrome or similar  :-DD :-DD

BISCUIT = Better Inspect Safety Conditions (or Caused) by Using Inferior Tants Syndrome or similar  :-DD :-DD

BISCUITS: Bugs Include Sub-standard Capacitors & Unbelievably Inept Through-hole Soldering. :-DD

Used in a sentence: I just got this power supply from AliExpress, but found out it's BISCUITS.

Don't mention any of this to xrunner, he got pissed at me in another thread when I mentioned something about his soldering....so shhhhh !

To prevent this in the future only use a crap camera for rework pics and NEVER zoom in too close.

I've been around for a bit - but I must question my commitment.  Either that, or there is an exceptionally high participation rate from everyone else......

I just checked up on new posts and it took me to page 167.  Then I saw it was up to page 200.   :wtf:

I like it too, it is bound to be  very apt at times.

Also spec you said only 13/16 of my purchases have been top shelf... What are the 3?

Well i'll grant the heathkits are not exactly top shelf but i paid more for either of them than i did for some of the other things on the list. Plus they will lead me down the garden path of heatkits.

The resistor decade box is definitely top shelf though, scientific grade in good condition and also dead on accurate. It has proven invaluable with all the questionable multimeters i buy.

So the supplied TTi driver won't do the job then, so what you are trying to do is access the firmware that you're not supposed to have access to is that it? TTi won't give you the software to enable this either in case you end bricking the TTi box or try to get it to do more then it was designed to do and then maybe claim it was faulty or something from them? Sorry if it seems obvious to you but to a non programmer like myself, it leaves me scratching my head. :-/O

Aim-TTi, like so many others, seem to believe that the world only consists of Windows. So if you're going to use any of their kit on any other platform you're on your own. They have no drivers available, except for Windows drivers, for any of their products.

The driver setup on OS X is much easier to work with than Windows, oftentimes you can get something generic and widely used like the FTDI serial drivers (in thousands of products) to work just by changing a configuration file. Problem is that nowadays those configuration files come with digital signatures to protect them from malware, and working around that is a non-trivial exercise if you want to keep the system integrity protections in place one you're finished fiddling. You can explicitly turn them all off, but that kind of defeats the purpose of having them there in the first place. Selectively saying, 'yeah, I know that driver is unsigned, but I say it's OK' is difficult for drivers (but easy for unsigned applications). The protection is an improvement, but it makes some of the quick fixes of the past into a rather more time consuming exercise.
Anybody got a syringe I can use to squeeze the magic smoke back into this?
