Codeine happened. Completely zonked out so just lay there listening to Germans and Spaniards complaining about the weather   Fortunately feels better today a bit. Purple bits have shrunk.

It's much much much more fun making stuff than it is buying it to be honest. May build a frequency counter next, just because I have the bits lying around.

Codeine and cider? Glad that the purple bits have shrunk, that always helps, my foot is getting better as well now but yesterday I went and stubbed my little toe and the next one into the step ladder in my garage, the air suddenly turned blue for a moment 

I spotted a AV receiver (not working) fairly close to me on the bay so I grabbed it for a £5 been working on it for a day and a bit, got it working now so it will go back on the bay when they have another cheap listing day as I have nowhere for it or any speakers to handle 100W. I just wanted something to use my 210 on  . This thing is made in a crazy manner, it has a massive heatsink inside the case with no fewer than 13 transistors bolted to it  they used to whack the heatsinks on the back in free air which I'd have thought was better then inside especially if you then stack a CD player on top blocking the airflow

Had a day off TEA yesterday to relax my foot. Sat there listening to the radio instead. Everyone complaining about the weather

Today, finished off the return loss bridge. Found my previously missing bag of nuts, made a lid and some labels. All done. Return loss bridge for £4.82 in total

The Tek 465 continues to frustrate and piss me off. Re-installed the Vertical board with high hopes that it was fixed. Everything back together and power on. No power, completely dead.  Quick check of the power supply revealed that the +55V reference is dead. That drives all the supply voltages. Checked all voltage rails for shorts and they are all OK, including the +55V reference rail. So something internal to that supply has crapped out. Currently troubleshooting the supply. 

This 465 is one step away from becoming a parts mule.

Sorry it's off topic but I have been practicing my creme brulee - they are getting quite good! Nothing like 30% fat, sugar and egg! Topped with more sugar.

*Sigh* I can't have the sugar though; I'm back on the keto diet again.

But hey... any diet where you have to use heavy whipping cream in your coffee can't be all bad.

Anyone know anything about Hewlett Packard 973A or  is that 937A handheld multimeter? Any specs or info about it. I never knew that they did hand helds.

Think they were made by Escort in Taiwan. Agilent later acquired Escort (around ten years ago) and all the Agilent and Keysight DMMs are descended from them. They would have been generic meters with protection added to HP’s standards.

My U1241C is a descendent.

Actually some of the older ones are rebranded Yokogawa DMM's and made in Japan.

Been offered one for £50, think I'll pass on iot although it was kind of interesting but by today's standards its pretty crusty and it only has a pathetic 700 hour battery life, my Fluke 27 can beat that with a 1,000 hours.

Because they re-used all the friggin' numbers for the computer crap, too.  I find that very annoying, too.  Putting the letter suffix on the search term tends to help at least somewhat.  I'm sure I miss plenty of wrongly-categorized gear on the 'bay by limiting searches to 'business and industrial' in order to cut down on the noise.  I've seen dopes put test gear in 'consumer' and 'antique and collectible'. HP also returns a lot of electric motors, and engine parts, too.
