Tektronix 2230 - Dot Only, No Line
« on: March 10, 2022, 01:18:47 am »
Hello! First, let me say I am new to scopes (sorry!).  I just got a 2230 which I was told was working but I can't seem to get it to show the horizontal line. Only a dot. I've tried lots of different things, but apparently not the right thing.    Here is a photo of what I have.  I actually don't have the probe yet (it's on the way). Does a probe need to be connected for the line to show?

Thanks!

Have not used that model but you can use a piece of wire from probe test to center of ch 1 input BNC. ADD is not correct for only one channel selected, turn on ch 2 use ALT or chop and play with controls on right side, see what you can get.

Thanks, that was helpful. Using wire for the probe got it showing a line.  Appreciate it.

It looks like the XY mode button is pressed.  That will produce a dot with no channel inputs.
There's no point getting old if you don't have stories.
