Using a Pro'sKit SS-331H on 110V
« on: March 20, 2019, 01:31:28 pm »
Anyone have any thoughts on using a Pro'sKit SS-331H solder sucker on 110V?  Here's the banggood listing. The listed voltage is 220V.  I've read the 220V ZD-985, which this seems to be a clone of, has a flyback SMPS and should work on 110V.  Memotronics has a 110V ZD-985 for sale but by the time you add on tax and shipping it's $40 more expensive.

I have the SS331B version. It uses a FSCQ1565RT SMPS controller/driver. This chip is specified to produce 170W for voltages between 85 and 265 VAC. So there's a chance it might work. But there is no gaurantee that the H version is using the same chip, nor that Mr Pros Kit has designed the rest of the circuit for operation at 110V. It's a bit of a gamble!

I've attached the schematic that I reverse engineered from my B version. Beware that I might have made errors in transcription.

I have ordered the Pro'sKit SS-331H - So I can take a high res pic of the PCB  when it arrives, and someone can check if it's the same chip.
