Wavetek RF sweeper : last on earth ?
« on: May 19, 2018, 09:38:52 pm »
Hi all,

I purchased recently a Wavetek RF sweeper model 8911 (was probably also manufatured by Gigaparts in the UK). The instrument
did not power up when I first switched it on. I carefully disassembled it and put it together again. And miracle it works !.
The instrument features 3 (three) YIG oscillators to cover the range from 10 MHz to 20 GHz, and some other microwave components which
are worth more than I paid for it.
The manufacturing dates on the various components shows that the piece was probably put on the market in the very early 90s.
The serial number is 329 and the total hours is 9998. Of course it needs some adjustments.
The output is as (un)stable as a sweeper can provide. But I already tested some waveguide bandpass with it and it showed to be useful.
Nevertheless I would be very happy if I coud find an owner's manual or better a service manual. But no luck : my research was not successful.
It seems my 8911 is the last on earth.
Is anyone a happy owner of the dinosaur, or maybe knows where to get some documents ?

Regards

The instrument also exists  made by Marconi Instruments type 6311.
Maybe that rings a bell.
