Title: A new smartphone attached thermal imaging camera from Xinfrared
Post by: askfor2000 on February 09, 2018, 02:03:13 am
A new smartphone attached thermal imaging camera named Xtherm T3S and T3PRO from Xinfrared.
I have compared with FLIR and seek and i3. The T3S have  384×288/17um resolution detector and with 25Hz frame rate output, superior image performance, comparable to professional-grade thermal imagers. :-+ :-+ :-+
The website is http://www.xinfrared.com (http://www.xinfrared.com).

Interesting specs. Can you tell us more about the sensor that you use? Who is the manufacturer?

Hi, the sensor used in Xtherm T3S is from IRAY which is brother company with Infiray owned Xinfrared. You can contact sales:

The images look really good. But they seem to be heavily enhanced digitally. I can see massive noise removal, and sharpening.

Hi, the image is processed by algorithms to enhance image quality. In fact, noise is very low. MRTD is smaller than 500mk, and NETD is smaller than 50mk

And the price is?

I also find this about 1 week ago, and the seller was asking ?6800($1077) for it.
If it's the final price,besides the 25hz framerate,I will chosse the TE-Q1.

I was given a price of around $500 + shipping & taxes.
No export issues for the 25Hz version.

Some interesting PVS cameras on their site but sadly the security and automotive pages appear inoperative at the moment.

It should be noted that FLIR have their thermal scopes made in China using a genuine FLIR core. It does not surprise me to see very similar looking products coming out of China.

I can see China increasing its thermal imaging product exports in the years to come. They may be more affordable than Western sources. With at least five Chinese companies making Microbolometers we could see greater availability of decent sensors as well.

It is good to have healthy competition in the thermal imaging marketplace  :-+

As part of selling your product in China you have to disclose a lot of information on the product, which is why you often see clones and fakes come out of there.

At least uses USB-C, other companies still live in the stone age.
However, as a regular basis I don't trust chinese products. I would rather buy the Flir One PRO.

An important specification not mentioned is the lens viewing angle (or focus distance in mm).
I owned a Flir E4+ and a Seek-XR, if the price is good I might give it a try.  I am very disappointed by the Seek-XR and looking for an alternative.

I already installed the Android App and it looks rather poor in options.  Maybe is because of the absence of the hardware part.

Anyway, we all expect to see the price please.

EDIT:  My mistake, the lens is mentioned. Objective lens 13mm.

Where did you find the Android App? I can not find it on Google Play Store.

Is a little bit tricky.  Go to the bottom of their page an select "Technical Documentation" which is under "Services".
Then under the XSight select "More" and you have it at the lower part of the page.

EDIT :  Sorry, I was wrong about it.  The App is not for the Xtherm but for the Xsight and Xeye cameras.

I always wonder about online shops without prices... They have nice looking products but how come there is no price on anything?

Does this company have an online store to actually buy the product? Or do they only sell through distributors?

Hm. Seems promising, my only gripe would be tge sensor's temperature range. 120° max seems a bit low compared to seek's.

Any idea if you'll give review units of one of these to some of the board's most adept members (e.g joe-c and others) to do a full unbiased review on both the product and its internals?

If the price point goes lower than a thermal expert than you have a good market. Also the app and an sdk that are modding friendly would help carve a niche.

I do not find any seller(except one who is asking for over $950)  in China so far.
IRay(Xinfrared) told me it will be launched in May but still find nothing.

I am the product manager of this product. :)

Suggesting you also provide the company's contact info like official company's email account or can be contactable thru company's phone, rather than personal contact/phone only, as people will not be confident as it like dealing with an unknown dealer or reseller.

Interesting.
Are you only in charge for the Xtherm Phone dongles or also a point of contact regarding the Xinfrared Xcore product line? I would be interested in availability and pricing for the Xcore Mini 3120. PN would be welcome.

Hi everyone,
Finally I have received the camera Xtherm T3S. Here are some pictures side by side T3s VS TE-Q1
What I didn't like is that the carrying case is designed so that the lens should be dismounted from the camera. Otherwise the case will not close.
Anyway camera it self is good, it has shooter calibration inside. It doesn't calibrates so often like Seek thermal so the clicking sound is not annoying.
I have posted some video samples, you can see it here:

hi, thanks a lot for your advise.
We have redesigned the carrying case, ti is not convenient like what you advise.
How do you think about the imaging?

images are good on this camera. I would say, better then TE-Q1. I have posted some pictures here https://www.eevblog.com/forum/thermal-imaging/thermal-imaging-gallery/200/ (https://www.eevblog.com/forum/thermal-imaging/thermal-imaging-gallery/200/)
By the way, better images are with app Thermviewer. Native app Xtherm, I think is still in developing mode, so there are only basic things.
It would be great to have analyzing software in a nearest future, because now it is like a toy Seek thermal, only makes a pictures without any data.

Some pictures from Xtherm app... there is no menu under "Image settings". There are only four imaging modes.

this clearly shows the difference between Seek and iRAy Xtherm. But I still feel like the Xtherm is overprocessed. There is NR and sharpening. While it might look great for advertising, I dislike it compared to other images seen.  It also makes it difficult to process these images to your own liking.

It's still fantastic to have competition for Thermal Expert and ThermApp.
