Argus TT320C
« on: September 25, 2018, 06:38:11 pm »
I happen across an Argus TT320C that needed a little work, ended up getting it at a very reasonable price.

Broken battery carrier

Have attached a few images of the device in use.

Really different design for a thermal imager but so far I like it, the big plus is it uses a standard Sony camcorder battery that's easily and cheaply obtainable.

Couple short video clips,

It only records at 10fps so the video quality is a little jerky.
The device does have a video out port so I'll have to hook that up to my capture card and check the quality there.

The sort of PCB's I like working on  :-+

Nicely laid out and look at all those lovely convenient test point pads. It is almost as though the designer wanted to make life easier for any techs working on the board  ;D Just like on the ARGUS 2 with its tech friendly labelling of key points of interest  :)

Adding 3 more photos, these are comparison photos with the E40 upgraded and the TT320.
Today was pretty damp and dreary here, it had just finished raining, 74F and 98% humidity out.

I'll have to get some higher temp shots next and compare those.

The test points are for the flying probe tester, or?

I found that the TT has the option of capturing JPEG and RAW at the same time.
Her's a side by side of the in device processed JPEG and the RAW file converted to JPEG without filters, it's a pretty noticeable difference.

histogram adjustments with highlight recovery. The pattern noise gets lost in the darkness. But there still this noticable fine noinse that looks like grain. This should vanish if you stack images of the same subject.

Image J is the recommended RAW handler.

RAW is 16 bit radiometric to the camera tolerances.
4096 count = 25°C
32 count = 1°C from there

JPG is a compression of the image presented on screen.
