Battery packs for Flir Exx series?
« on: March 12, 2018, 12:27:56 pm »
Hi all-

Please help me sort out the multiple part numbers for Exx battery packs... I currently have a T197752 , and want to replace it.

I'm finding several alternative part numbers for what seem like very similar packs and I'm not clear A) why so many different versions exist and B) what the current purchase should be.  Are some of these older, discontinued models, perhaps?

Also, are there any 3rd party battery packs for these cameras that are worth considering?

I've found:
T197752  (3.7V 4.4Ah 17Wh)
T198487  (3.7V 4.4Ah ??Wh)
T198553  (3.7V 5.2Ah 19Wh)

Thanks...

Good questions that I have also asked myself.

From what I can gather, each new battery capacity is given a new part number. Battery capacity has naturally increased over the years that the battery has been current. The earlier, lower capacity battery has been discontinued. All the batteries may be used in the Exx camera.

I know of no compatible batteries sadly. Interesting,y, the battery for the early FLIR E2 is really common from companies like CSI, but not the later batteries.

Thanks (as always!) Fraser.

Just talked to Flir online; they say my E30bx needs this battery pack: T199363ACC (which is yet ANOTHER part number - geez!).  I've just ordered one.

Hello people,
I have the E4 and the battery seems to be an 18650 LiIon in the "box". It works fine so far but when it will die can I disassemble the battery pack and replace it with a new one or there is a kind of protection that detects that?

The E4 cell is just a standard 18650 with the usual external protection PCB that may be reused. No battery management in the pack and relatively easy to open in order to re-cell it or increase capacity. There are pictures of the dismantled pack in the E4 teardown thread and possibly also in my E4 Useful information thread on this sub forum.

Replacing the cells inside the battery pack is fairly easy.
I did get my E30 with a pretty dead pack, with astronomical replacement prices i decided to repair it myself.
Its just 2 parallel 18650 type LiIon cells (4.20V charge) with a pretty standard protection circuit (no further battery management in the pack).
I chose 2 Samsung INR18650-35E cells (around 4 Eur each) for a huge improvement in runtime (measured 6.7Ah instead of rated 4.4 or actual <2Ah of the old pack).

Older packs (e.g. ixx series) were 7.2V and had the charging and management circuits in the pack, and had some trouble after cell replacement (battery low icon after 5 minutes, while camera would still run for over 2 hours).
