(Solved) Disassembling a FLIR i series camera - hints please
« on: February 17, 2017, 04:26:17 pm »
My FLIR i5 MK1 (Blue & Grey) camera has arrived.

I want to disassemble it for some investigation inside. Has anyone already disassembled the case of a MK1 i series camera please. It would be helpful to hear about how it is constructed. I could X-Ray it but I am in the process of rebuilding the two X-Ray controller PC's so not convenient at the moment.

just pulled mine apart. There's two screws under the sticker on the front by the lens. once you remove those two . There's two more screws under the front shutter assembly .  Two more in the handle underneath the battery (ones under the top battery sticker )/

Pimpinge46,

Many thanks for this information. I was suspicious that there were screws under the label around the lens but was not certain.

I saw an auction for a butchered i7 that supported my thoughts about the front label as it had been trashed,  presumably during a a less than careful disassembly. I attach the auction pictures. Scary case damage ! It was ex construction company that had several i7 cameras. It was probably used for parts to repair others, or just a poorly executed repair attempt after its screen was broken.

I am going to warm the front label with a hair dryer and hope it may be lifted without damage. Much depends upon the adhesive tape FLIR have used.
