Flir E5 fw 3.9.0 Resolution Hack possible?

Is it possible to hack the E5 2.0L fw 3.9.0 without Wi-Fi?

Simple answers is yes. However Bud would need to advise on the details of where there may be issues with his upgrade method.

The E5 is 'just' an E4 with the resolution set higher in the configuration. As I do not know the exact method of upgrade that Bud has used, I cannot advise on changes that may be needed to his files etc.

Historically the E5 could be upgraded using the same method as the E4.
The reason is that the E4, E6, E6 and E8 all share the same firmware but the configuration files set the resolution and features. Those configuration files are being changed in the upgrade so I cannot see an issue with using the E4 hack on an E5 of identical firmware version. I would not expect the E5 to use a different protection coding.

As I will soon have a FLIR ETS320 that is in truth a repurposed E8 chassis, I will be looking at applying elements of the upgrade to it.
The firmware is likely 3.5 but I will upgrade it to 3.9.

Only some of the additional features available through the upgrade process will be useful on the ETS320 as it is a bench mounted PCB inspection camera. As it has no visible light camera, enabling anything to do with MSX, Fusion or PiP is pointless. Additional measuring functions would be handy though. Switching off that nasty false noise generator would be good too.

If anyone does apply the firmware 3.9 upgrade to an E5 or higher, I would love to hear about it. The ETS320 arrives with me in a couple of weeks.

I have the same question but mine is e5 1.1l and 1.22.0,tried one hack but it stated during the .fif that it was not a legal file. Should I upgrade firmware first?

I think you can only do the early original hack (2014 ?)  with that hardware.
