Flir K55 Power
« on: April 22, 2017, 08:57:38 am »
Hello!

i have gotten over a Flir K55 or 45,65 but it has no battery so i was wondering if anyone knowes what is +an - and if i can connect a adapter to it.

i have tested with a battery that the unit works but doesnt feel to buy just a battery for about 200 i believe that i need a charger to then, or does anyone know if this unit charges trough the usb, like the E4.

What i could see the k55 does video out trought the usb.

So you know the battery voltage right? (You said you tried a battery once) I think you can make your own maybe?
Does it have a external DC input?

yes, i borrowed a battery from a friend that has them on their work, and my idea is like you say, have an external power source, the only thing i wanna know is which is + an -.
i dont think it  likes me testing randomly ;)and i cant borrow it again.

No it has not DC-input, i think if maybe take connectors to a car-audio cable and and just put them on the flir power connectors.

OK, so you knew the voltage and battery material, now just need the polarity, I think you can:

Ask your friend to test the battery with a multi meter.

Or
Email to Flir and ask them.

Or
Disassemble the camera, and try to tell the polarity yourself, but this is risky and may cause damage if you power the camera with the reversed polarity, I'm not responsible for that...

Good luck.

These batteries go into a separate FLIR charger, so no guarantee whether the camera contacts for the truck mounting storage / charger are 'power in' with a charge control circuit in the camera or are simply 'charging in' from an off-camera charger.

Given that this is a parallel wired pair of Lithium Cobalt cells, excessive experimentation may not be wise
