FLIR Scout TK Questions
« on: April 04, 2018, 12:55:08 pm »
So I saw a really great offer, for a demo FLIR Scout TK from an official local FLIR dealer. I play to go there tommorow or Friday and have a look.

But there are some questions I couldn't find answers to:
Can you disable DDE?
When recording video, how bad is it compressed and does it change pallette range?
It says fixed focus, but would you be physical able to change something like for Ex cameras?
Any idea about firmware hacks for it?
Are the optics coated Ge or other? Could you use them for other Lepton based projects?
Does it's battery degrade over time and can you replace it?

I will ask those questions the experts in the flir store, but I would love to know if anyone had any hand on experience with it.

The scout TK is a Lepton with a different lens.
The focus is likely fixed but changeable.
The compression is likely terrible.
Firmware hacks... well, it's a Lepton, just replace the hardware entirely.
Every battery degrades over time.

The battery can easily be replaced. I did it. The battery is 18650.
