Mikron camera on ebay.com
« on: May 23, 2016, 09:07:42 pm »
I have been fighting myself all day to not buy this Mikron thermal camera. It looks like the Mikron 7800 which is 320 x 240 pixels and 60fps frame rate. To me it is a bargain at $500 as it originally cost $20K. I would buy it if it were not for the postage and VAT that pushes the cost up to £500 for me in the UK.

The seller ships internationally.

UPDATE..... The seller has now added the model number. This camera is 160 x120 resolution and NOT 320 X 240. He has also removed the international shipping option :(

Is it that model though ? Worth asking the seller for exact model as it is also available as 320 X 240 resolution.

UPDATE..... Ah I see the seller has changed the title to state 7816 now so it is indeed a 160 X 120 resolution model. Still not bad  value but sadly not the excellent deal that the 320 X 240 model would have been.

Also now updated to say shipment to US only.  Perhaps had a call from the DoC, as that really should not ship out of the US

Oh dear,

This turned out to be an awful posting by me. Sorry folks, I will refrain from repeating this mistake and not highlight such listings. The seller provided poor initial detail and then changed the listing. Not great.

Nah, it was educational. I've never heard of Mikron infrared cams before...

Mikron is a brand owned by NEC. Take a look at NEC AVIO cameras, I own a few and love them. They use various microbolometer sensor arrays but mine are all from Boeing. This 7800 series unit is less attractive to my eye. I prefer the camcorder format like my FLIR PM695 etc.
