I built some metal tripod adapters but they all had issues with camera rotation around the bolt mount. The 3D 'belt and braces' design is far better and was generously donated to the community by its design author (not me). I print in ABS as I prefer it to the other stuff. Just personal preference. You can have things printed in prinatable metal or reinforced plastic as well. Good quality ABS works fine for me though.
