L-3 X100XP manual needed.
« on: September 09, 2018, 02:59:36 pm »
Picked up one of these;
http://www.nitevis.com/MX-1_MiniIR.htm
should have it in a couple days.

I've been searching around for a manual with no luck, does anyone happen to have one or know where I can download it?

TIA
Steve

I did find the manual for the X150XP, looking for the manual specific to the 100 thought, not sure how much of a difference there is between the two.

I had the Raytheon X100 to test many years ago. It was an interesting unit with fast start-up.

From memory it was monochrome only and the image in the viewfinder was a tad on the small size, much like with the FLIR PS series scopes. It may even use the same size Kopin LCD panel. Some cores had built in direct support for the Kopin LCD panels for scope deployments.

Thanks Fraser,  I believe that's the one I'm getting as the owner said it has Raytheon imprinted in the rubber housing.
Not easy to find literature on that particular model.

The spec suggests this has the Raytheon 2000 core in it, I think I saw them being made at RCI.

The core has a teardown on here and Fire-TICS (for building a DIY camera from the core).  Vaious bits of the core manual are online too.
For the time a good core and very low power

regards
Bill

Well done for finding the manual  :-+

The unit contains a Raytheon 2000AS core and this drives a Kopin miniature EVF LCD display.

Core Datasheet attached.

I may have to grab one for a spare at that price.
I received the unit yesterday, and from needing a good cleaning it works perfectly, the screen is pretty small, but it's very detailed.  I do have a video cable on the way so I'll capture a video from it after it arrives.

I really like that it only uses 2 AA batteries, very convenient, start up time is only around 5 seconds like the manual states.  I also have a Flir TK and if I don't keep it plugged in I am finding that the batteries are either low or dead when I get around to using it.

The 2000AS core was designed to be powered by compact low voltage batteries and to be very frugal in its power consumption. Much like you would find in a thermal rifle sight. No coincidence me thinks  ;)

The datasheet says as much. Long run time from just two AA cells. Pretty impressive considering that this is a Circa 2001 core design.

As I previously commented, both FLIR and Raytheon used the Kopin miniature LCD displays in their scopes. Sadly, even with magnifying optics, the display is a little small for comfort.
