Vebeg sells the surplus government stuff. The auctions are blind, you can not see how much the others offered. Typically it's also local pick up, so you need to collect the item personally.
So unfortunately no to both questions. Sometimes export restrictions apply so they sell some stuff only to germans.

After the auction they list the price here for 14 days: https://www.vebeg.de/web/de/verkauf/zuschlagspreise.htm
I watched some of the actions for thermal imagers (mostly Dräger Talisman C) and some even were located nearby, but they seem to get very expensive.
This one sold for 427,27 €  :o http://www.vebeg.de/web/de/verkauf/suchen.htm?SUCH_AUS_ID=1735471&SUCH_LOS_ID=015
Last time I checked german eBay auctions they sold for less than 300€....

Thanks. These cameras aren't cheap. I think they go for over $5k new. Depends on model.
So €400 isn't much.

It is worth remembering that theses are Talisman cameras and they use the BST sensor array. As such they are not able to provide a temperature measurement using the thermal array. They have the option of a pyrometer adjacent to the lens for measurements.

An ARGUS 2 just sold for £50 in the UK. One bidder only as the camera has a fault. No image.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Argos-E2V-Thermal-Camera-Faulty-powers-up-/173113242976?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&nma=true&si=OkVyVc%252BlzVUc0a8nMfCgcYLA0uk%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

The fault is just a stuck mechanical Iris...... an easy repair. There are bargains to be had now and then and the ARGUS 2 is superior to the ISG Talisman units in my opinion.

320 x 240 pixels with continuous 30fps composite video output and no interruptions from an FFC flag. Not bad for £50. The Germanium lens block is worth more that alone. The Raytheon Core would make a good basis for an automotive thermal camera as it is basically what resides in the Cadillac DeVille night vision system. A neat project for someone.

Thanks.

I am not surprised to be honest.

There are EEV ARGUS 2 and 3 cameras selling for around £400 here in the UK.

Also, for completeness and transparency....... the ARGUS 2 that I bought for £50 turned out to be one of the 21 that I inspected a while back. I repaired all that could be saved, but 8 were beyond economic repair. This camera is one of those 8 😄  No worries though, I bought it for parts really. I need a good case for one of my ARGUS 2 cameras that got melted ! It looks like someone took a blow torch to the outer protective sacrificial shell but it did its job as the inner camera module is perfectly OK 🙂

It was funny when I unpacked the ARGUS 2 and saw serial number 1261 ....  I remember the serial number well as I tried hard to repair that camera, but the fault was in the Raytheon Core board. It is still well worth £50 as spare parts though. The lens assembly alone is worth that.

Be very careful if buying faulty ARGUS 2 cameras as there are 7 more out there that I declared B.E?R for various serious faults. One had drowned due to someone messing with it and getting a seal position wrong !
Some had already been robbed for parts prior to my inspection. I have comprehensive records for all the cameras that I have worked on, including those 21 ARGUS 2's. I am happy to check my records if someone sees one and wants to check if it was one of the scrapped units.

For interest, even the B.E.R ARGUS 2's sold for £100 each. The seller was going to ditch them but I suggested he list them for spare parts as there is good kit inside them. Even scrap thermal kit has decent value.

Good camera. Likely will go for a tidy sum though.

It's listed as not working due to random freezes

FFC events ? :)

They use a decent core. IIRC, an Indigo Omega (FLIR A10)

UPDATE:

I just checked and can confirm that Indigo (now FLIR) cores were used in this series of cameras. From memory it was the OMEGA core and not the later Photon. Such cores may be directly configured by a PC using the configuration utility.

These MSA cameras are to be found on eBay at around $400 to $500.
