Galaxy S8 Therm-app usb-c not wokring - solved

Hi all,

I got a new galaxy S8.
Trying to work with Therm-app with the usb-c to usb micro adapter that came with the phone (in box)  and its not working.
I know that therm app is recemonding on VicTsing USB 3.1 Type-C to Micro USB Convert Connector but:
a. you can't get it anywhere.
b. its not working for every phone https://www.flickr.com/groups/2713182@N24/discuss/72157674489569074/

BTW the flirone is not working too, but I read its a known issue of android 7.0.

Someone knows what can I do? (beside buying a dedicated phone  )

I searched a lot but missed that link.

The  larger usb-c to usb-a is OTG and its working, that is great.
Now I need to find usb-c to micro OTG adapter.

Yeah, I got a S8+ and right now I'm just using the included USB-C to A OTG adapter and a short microUSB cable.

Yes, but that is not working with Flir one 

I ordered and adapter, I will update.

The reason for this failure is that the therm-app USB driver is not compatible with Android 7.0.

Yeah but even Flir's app doesn't work with the One using a Type-C to micro adapter. I've tried several OTG adapters and none are picked up by the S8. Not sure if it's Nougat or Samsung.

That is not true, its working on my S8

Its working with the USB to USB-C adapter coming with the S8
(the big one, not the micro usb - the micro is not working)

But the same adaptor that works on nexus 6p is not working on the 1+5t ... whether works or not seems quite random.

This is beyond annoying. At first I couldn't believe the small usb-c - micro-usb adapters just won't work even if they work well for charging and even data transfer. I did have two USB-C to USB-A adapters that work well with USB sticks and such but even if I have full boxes with all kinds of cables and adapters I don't have anything I can stick the Flir into (need micro-usb female).

Anyway I went on ebay and bought the first usb-c to micro-usb adapters (3 for 1 eur) that mentioned OTG and guess what - as luck has it the first from the 3 didn't work! I didn't even bother to check them all until today when low and behold ... two are working. So two are working OTG as (somehow) expected - FLIR and other adapters are working (like microusb to USB-A or whatever else I've had before) and one will charge the phone albeit slowly (transfer doesn't work too so probably something is wired wrong). The OTG adapters won't work for charging (probably expected).
