ThermalCamera+ and iOS 11.2 Problems
« on: December 07, 2017, 04:41:50 pm »
Hello, I own a F1G2 and am on iOS 11.2.  It appears that the FLIR camera is detected after unplugging and plugging it back in but no image is shown.  It is able to poll the F1G2 battery percentage left.  I suspect this is an issue introduced with the iOS update.  Prior to this update the application worked without issue.  The camera works with the FlirONE application on iOS 11.2 though this application is inferior.  Anyone else having problems as well?  If so, be warned about the iOS update.

Edit:  I've sent Georg an E-Mail via the application support address.

My Flir ONE quit working in third party apps with iOS 11.2.
And in the Flir ONE app it does shows an image, but everything is -50C.

Something is broken.

Concur, this describes my experience exactly.  Since Apple is still signing 11.1.2 I am currently in the process of downgrading and will report back shortly.

I have successfully downgraded the iOS version and it works again correctly with 11.1.2.  At this point I believe it confirmed that iOS 11.2 causes FLIR ONE breakage.

I had the issue with IOS 11.0 and iPhone 6S+ (but worked with iPhone 7) - but it went away with 11.1.

Interesting, didn't realize it was hardware dependent.  Must be related to the iPhone X display.  I am on an iPhone 6.

Sadly it seems backups made using 11.2 are not compatible with 11.1.2 so I was forced to revert to an older Nov backup.

Hello,

I'm the developer of the ThermalCamera+ application. I'll take a look into the problem. It could be, that the newest SDK by FLIR doesn't have this issue.

Thanks Georg!  I don't mind sitting on 11.1.2 but hate to see that 11.2 broke FLIR with 3rd party applications.  ThermalCamera+ is far superior to the stock iOS application and really  makes the F1G2 useful again.

I've got an email from FLIR

Quote
Hello FLIR ONE for iOS users,

Thank you for registering your FLIR ONE. We've identified an issue in the FLIR ONE application that effects users of iOS 11.2. If you have updated to iOS 11.2, please do not uninstall and reinstall the FLIR ONE app. We are currently working on an update to address the performance issues impacting manual FFC (flat field correction), setting auto/manual FFC, setting gain, and firmware updates. Prior iOS versions continue to be compatible.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work to release this update as quickly as possible. Please see our support page at www.flir.com/flirone/support/ for more information and the latest updates on iOS 11.2 compatibility.

Thank you,
The FLIR ONE Team

Thanks Georg, no need to apologize as this is not your fault.  I appreciate you taking the time to write ThermalCamera+ and I'm happy to stick with 11.1.2 and continue to use the application until an updated SDK is released.  Once released I'd appreciate any changes in functionality you may notice.

Progress! The Flir One app seems to be working, including temperatures. Aside from the message when you start it.
