1980s vintage ICs

Got my 1980s Toshiba 4584 hex inverters. I  really like the vintage tape carrier. For something 30 years old it holds up. The tape backing still sticks and is still pliable. Awesome. I really like the shape of these SOP chips, not quite SOIC, more rectangular. It's the type of packahe I remember from the first time I saw SMT chips as opposed to all the DIPs in my Commodores. That's why I have this nostalgic feeling for SOPs. Totally trivial I know but fun.

Ah, but does the magic smoke have the proper 1980's electronics aroma??
