Apple Lisa Keyboard assistance
« on: August 12, 2018, 08:35:59 am »
Hi all,

I ask for your assistance in relation to the caps lock mechanism on the Apple Lisa Keyboard. It contains a tiny gold pin and a compression spring.  (I have a photo of mechanism https://postimg.cc/image/lwpyl31uj/)

Would anyone know the size of this spring? In particular the 'out diameter', so I can find an appropriate size.

Thank you all in advance,

Sorry I can't help with the question in hand.

However, you've posted the same question in two different topics, that's generally considered to be poor etiquette around here. You'll probably find that one of the moderators will come along and lock one of the threads...
Anybody got a syringe I can use to squeeze the magic smoke back into this?

Hi George, it looks like you probably have the ALPS SKCC version, correct? If so, then the locking switch should be: https://deskthority.net/wiki/Alps_SKCC_Lock

You can ask for more info and/or ask to buy replacements from someone on Deskthority.net.

No unfortunately that does not appear to be the one.  That one is for an other Apple computer but not the Lisa.  Thank you though for your input  :)

There were prototypes for the Lisa keyboard that used the ALPS SKCC series.

If you post a picture of the keyboard with switches, it will help with the identification.

In those pictures, the caps lock key does not look any different from the others. Is it different inside, or could you just measure the tiny spring inside one of the other keys?

If you have a look at this image, the arrow points to the caps lock and a mechanism that sits on top that is a white plastic component.  This is the mechanism as I have demonstrated earlier:
