decided the world hates me lol New direct extruder

HobGoblyn:
Watched a ton of vids, decided to get myself a BIQU H2 direct drive extruder.

Contacted company to see if it was the upgraded version, they said upgraded version hasn't reached the UK yet, but if there's a problem, they will send me the upgraded gears when they arrive.

So it arrived yesterday, opened box, it is upgraded version (silver gears not black) and could hear something loose inside.  So opened it up, only to find one of the screws that holds the stepper motor on to be loose (as in not in the hole at all).

Put it in the hole, absolutely zero thread in it, surely someone must have noticed this during manufacturing etc, then again who knows.

Probably would work fine with 3 bolts holding motor on, but £72, I expect it to be undamaged on delivery.  So I returned to Amazon (3rd party seller fulfilled by Amazon), no problem there.

But when I bought it, there was a code for 20% off, if I try to buy again it wont give me the 20% offer, but if I go to the Amazon UK website without logging on, it will.  Must be one discount per person.  Time to phone daughter and get her to buy it for me.  Why is it nothing seems to go smoothly anymore lol

I'm pretty sure 3D printing is just one long continuous exercising in annoyance and frustration.

I must admit that’s when I just need to get something done I either use a bureau or an old Stratasys printer I picked up on eBay for next to nothing which may not have the latest cutting edge resolution but just works!

Like most things, you get out of it what you put into it.  If you scoured the earth for the cheapest Chinese-made car, would you be surprised if it was unreliable and performed poorly?  Would it mean that all cars are the same?

The glut of dirt-cheap printers coming out of China is cool in that it allows people to get into 3D printing without a lot of cash up front, but there are huge tradeoffs being made and that fact should be obvious to anyone posting on this forum.  Look into a Prusa or LulzBot etc and you'll have a very different experience (and you'll pay more up front due to all the corners which are intact and uncut).
