Which Marlin firmware would be more efficient on an 8 bit microcontroller i.e. Marlin versus when I mean efficiency I mean am efficient code running on the CPU a Ram Equivalent on the microcontroller

Marlin or the last one for the future.

If you have a 8bit ┬ÁP just just turn off some features in the config file.
With less horses you have to go light.
