UL 94 V0 PETG filament
« on: August 06, 2023, 01:40:22 pm »
Ever since I got my 3D printer, I've been wondering if we will ever get flame-extinguishing filaments for UL94, and while I was browsing for upgrades to my printer, it looks like Prusa is about to launch some:

For actual 94LV0 certification, it requires a specific printer and configuration (see the article), but there's nothing stopping hobbyists from using it to make your projects safer.

And there’s more. Not only the other self-extinguishing filaments are not certified properly but they may also contain some toxic substances that are released into the air when burning. We’re talking about halogens. The Prusament PETG V0 is halogen-free.

Thats good, although no mention of what the additive actually is.

this is what prusa spends time and effort on, rather than delivering promised features on the XL?

They have over 700 employees, the person working on this is unlikely to be working on mechanical features..
