Multi sheet design in Altium
« on: April 11, 2015, 08:20:08 am »
I am facing strange problem while transferring to pcb from a multisheet schematic. All nets are not transferring successfully and some nets are mixing up with other components. There are lots of unconnected components though they are connected in schematic. Same is happening for other 3 rooms also.

But when I combined the 4 schematics in one single sheet and updated the pcb. This time all pins are connected successfully as it is in the schematic!

I tried with net identifiers as "flat" in project options but still the problem exists. :(

How can I solve it ? What may case the problem ?

  • Did you compile your whole project?
  • Did you validate changes before updating the PCB?

What errors did you get in (1) and (2)?

What does your schematic look like?  The PCB view isn't the problem here, so there isn't much to read from it.

Did you use Off-Sheet Connectors or Ports and Sheet Symbols to connect the sheets?  Were they connected correctly?

A design that works (mostly) when flat, should probably be made flat...  Hierarchical design is mainly only important when you have many repeated subcircuits.

Yes. I have done so. It gives no error.

did you do a DRC on the SCH?
will Net to port connect?
any missing Net name?
Any similar designators
does the SCH part match with the PCB footprint name? like a diode being 1-2 in sch then A-K in footprint

make sure that the SCH is 100% error free before transfecting to PCB

It looks/sounds like you may have broken Component Links OR Channel Offset errors.
