Altium 3D to 2D for enclosure manufacturer
« on: February 17, 2016, 10:09:05 am »
How can I export different view of the PCB with components (showed in 3D view) and put dimension in each view in Altium ?
I need to provide these information to enclosure manufacturer.

I dont think it is working that way. You can export it to step, and you can provide the a mechanical layer gerber/drawing with dimensions. Otherwise,"make a screenshot, draw the lines in paint". Altium is not really that kind of CAD designer, the 3D is there for the electronics engineer's not the mechanics engineer.
STEP has a lot more information anyway. Send it to them, ask them to send back their proposal (in step, not stupid 2d!). Not the other way around.

Any decent enclosure manufacturer should be able to deal with a step file appropriately.   At my work place, I regularly generate a step file of my board (or boards if they mate together) and give it to the mechanical guys.   All parts with 3D in them show up, and clearances are observed etc.
We do a quick cross check between certain points (usually mounting holes or a couple through hole connectors) to verify nothing got lost in translation.  Hasn't to date, and everything fits nicely.
