That's the same "default" deal the US is currently getting (USD$500/mo for 12mo). That gets a lot cheaper if you're a current Eagle user (or maybe if they're feeling nice?), so maybe ask about that?

Otherwise, has anything ever been "cheap" in Switzerland?

Hold their feet to the fire - ask them!  Or 'upgrade' to KiCAD - which is basically an existential threat to Altium.

I doubt they consider KiCAD to be a serious threat. As good as it is becoming, from what I've read it's still a long way from the level of functionality required in a professional environment to be a true competitor.

If they didn't consider KiCAD a threat then why have they released migration tools?

Sure Altium is better than KiCAD, but KiCAD can design perfectly good boards - just a bit more difficult to drive, less stable and lacking some of the niceties that speed up design.

KiCAD will keep Altium 'honest' and on-their-toes, perhaps stay a couple of years ahead.

At the VERY least, KiCad pushing up hard on the likes of Eagle is certainly relevant to Altium's lower-end customers (like me, most of the jobs I do).
