Removing silkscreen without unlocking primitives ?
« on: October 11, 2016, 07:48:35 am »
Hello folks,
I am wondering if there is a chance (e.g. trick using design rules) to get rid of the 'Top Overlay' layer for all components without unlocking primitives and deleting the layer** ?

I would love to get rid of those silly Top Overlay contours which are the part of libraries.

https://ctrlv.cz/YiU7

On the other hand I would like to have some custom silkscreen prints on the board so removing the layer (excluding it from manufacturing) is not the solution.

I could not find the way how to add a custom layer, something like "my_Top_Overlay" either.

Any ideas ?
Thanks !

Just create a new mechanical layer for custom silk screen and create gerber file for it.
You can ignore or delete the original .GTO file.

vzoole - Thanks for the answer. How can I create a new mechanical layer ? Looking and the Layer Set Manager does not give me any option to add a new layer. Just to create a new Layer Set (pre-configured view).
Thanks in advance.

I found it. I had to uncheck "Only show enable mechanical Layer". However now I am not able to see my text in 3D preview. But it is still better than nothing.
