Altium Designer 21 Sneak Peeks
« on: October 26, 2020, 10:35:34 pm »
Did you see something interested or must have in upcoming version 21?

I believe they keep adding and moving slowly to a pure cloud A365, so not easy to find something useful in each and every version.

Something like , or perhaps?

a bit late for me, already did similars using DBLibs and internal standard libraries...

Woah! That 'easy prototypes with generics' isn't the way to design things, apparently. Maybe someone should tell them :)

Generics

90% of the work in 10% of the time.

Then 90% of the time doing the last 10% of the work

Sawtooth and trombone matching? You mean the feature which existed in Orcad Pro since time immemorial? :-DD
But, seriously, it's good that I will no longer have to do trombones manually, because it is a recommended method to match traces lengths for DDR3/DDR4 interfaces.
Does anyone know ETA when it's expected to be released?

Well.. but you have started to use AD instead of OrCAD, why?!  >:D

Because I like some other aspects of AD more than OrCAD. I still have to use OrCAD PCB and SigXplorer for simulations even for AD projects, because AD's SI simulation tools are pathetic useless garbage :palm: This is a typical "designed by managers" feature, when people who designed it had no idea how it would actually be used in the wild :horse:

YAWN...  :=\

if we judge a mess in the documentation that started to mention version 21 since 4th of December, there is one step left to release an open beta   :popcorn:

Just got a call from my AM who told me AD 21 is coming out next week. They also have a promo for 35% off for additional seats.

Finally the ability to insert an image without scripting. That took some time.

At university, most of our boards are one-offs. Generics are a god-sent.
