Just got this notice and I'm wondering if anyone has any info on the new features?
"Altium Designer 17 will be the biggest product release Altium has ever had when it comes to the number and depth of features being delivered including the best interactive router ever. "
How good is ActiveRoute and Draftsman?

Will have to see when update lands
I do like Draftsman.
You need to correct the Thread Title.
It says "Altium Designer 7 Features"

Quite right. A lot of time was previously spent on pin swaps from the gate arrays to get this to work.
Hmm, I doubt it, they're routing on about four layers by the looks of it.

The largest version number we ever had...
Anyway, I hope if it comes out I will be able to update to it from the 16. I'm not even sure that a major version update is in the license. Better ask the seller.
I heard clippy is coming back for Altium 18.

If you have a subscription, you should. If not, a lot of people (including me) are going to be royaly pissed. On the bright side: our distributor can hardly hide behind "hey, we're only the distributor" anymore
Anyone have a release date for this?
My apologies if it's posted somewhere and I have overlooked it.

That was exactly my thought as well.
This works fine if you only have to layer these tracks and nothing else.
In the practical world that's barely the case, and we need to join in the elegant PCB dance
Now that Dave's got a license - maybe he would be up for a review?
I'm really interested in that feature. It looks like it could be the first easily usable auto router?

Mentor has had this feature for a few years - they call it "Sketch Route:"
Altium is working toward implementing all of Mentor's features so they can charge as much as them.

Yes, with multi-layers there, someone carefully allocated pin-pairs to layers before the demo...
The 'whole' video:
Hehe, a wry smile at the poor cleanups in the top right hand area of the starting screen in that video.
Guess 'Active route' is a 'work in progress' ? - or do they leave some work for the operator, to make them feel useful
CADSTAR has had this for several years too, known as trunk routing.
Everybody that sees it likes how it looks, however the reality is that you would rarely have that many connections to route in 1 go, engineers prefer to be in control more.
So it is little used, except however for diff pairs - it's great for them.
