Filter: Free Pads
« on: March 03, 2017, 05:04:20 pm »
I was just adding fiducials to an existing design, and took the lazy route, adding free pads.  Nothing wrong with that, really.

Place, Pad
Name: FID1 (autoincrements as I place more)
Size: 40 mils (round pad)
Solder mask expansion: 20 mils
Layer: Top Copper (and Bottom, whichever need it)
Net: No Net

There's a polygon pour, so I need to set clearance.

New clearance rule:
Query: IsPad AND (Name Like 'FID*')
Constraint: 20 mil

No effect.  ???

I test queries.  Like '*FID*' works.  Huh.  '?FID*' doesn't work.  Two ?? doesn't work, and so on.  Five ?'s works.  Huh...

On a hunch, try 'Free-FID*'.  Works.  Huh.

The object clearly says its Name, in the three places you can view it (dialog, Inspector and List).  It's a Free pad, so of course, the Component property is prepended to the internal name: in this case, 'Free-'.

Just something to keep in mind.  Happy querying,
