Altium offers perpetual licenses - again

Perpetual License
For companies that want license ownership

Pay once and use a license indefinitely
Estimate total cost of ownership
Includes updates and access to Altium 365 with a subscription
Flexibility to scale capacity with additional seats
Starting at
EUR 11610
Is it just me or is this flip-flop of license agreements starting to look ridiculous? I honestly don't trust them anymore that they are not going to remove features or add subscription fees to perpetual licenses - again.

The price looks like some Chinese Ebay seller going on holiday and adding a zero to their item prices.  :wtf: Who is going to pay that ridiculous amount for Altium?
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.

The price is ballpark the license price and 3 year subscription.

3 years? Their US site currently shows $12925 for a single site license ($9775) and just 1yr subscription at Pro level ($3150).  A "continental" license bumps that up to $19388 ($14663 + $4725).

(I'd be curious to know how they justify charging so much more for customers that have a different physical office arrangement -- clearly the real answer is "because they can", but they can't just tell their customers that, right?)

So the US single site license is more than the perpetual license?
Or they just going to write different prices when you are logged in? For Altium for a while now it feels like whatever just pay us. Maybe they want to grab some cash before the sale deal goes through.

Even with a perpetual licence, some features are only enabled with a Pro subscription level too.  Impressive work that.

At least this was the case a few weeks ago, today, who knows  :palm:

The multi board was standard feature few year ago, when pro didn't exist. Our salesmen tries to convince me maybe once every quarter to get the pro. It's not even funny anymore.

The situation with Multi-Board and perpetual licences is interesting.  If you let your subscription lapse, even perpetual licence holders who have it under grandfather rights will have it removed.

So, to continue using a feature in your perpetual license, you must have an active continuous subscription, or they will remove features.  There has been some discussion of this over on the Altium forums.

No, those are perpetual licenses.  But they distinguish between geographical scopes, so, not counting subscription, each perpetual license is $9775 if everyone works at a single site, $14663 if everyone works on the same continent, and "contact us" otherwise.  Maybe that's why Renesas bought them, so they could give themselves a break on whatever the "contact us" global pricing is.

Same with the new Constraint Manager, which is extra ridiculous because for at least one minor version they actually removed the option to create a project using the older Design Rules dialog.
