Selecting one to a few objects in the PCB and using Move->Selection or dragging them with the mouse displays the selected objects while moving them, making it possible to see exactly where each component will land after moving. Select a bunch of objects and then attempting to move them, though, and the objects stay put with a bounding box following the cursor around until the new location is selected, at which point the components jump to the new location. This seems sensible, as moving a whole lot of objects at once could cause poor performance, particularly with online DRC. However, sometimes it would be preferable to suffer poor performance in exchange for being able to see where exactly the components will land. Is it possible to control this at all?
Interestingly, when moving a union or a room the member objects always seem to be displayed, even when there are way more of them than would be displayed when moving a collection of free objects. Even more interestingly, performance isn't bad at all, even with online DRC enabled.
