CTRL+SHIFT+ESC, Processes, find DXP.EXE, force close.  Hope you saved recently ::)

If it happens next time, try moving the file location (is it local or network attached?), getting a new copy (was it corrupt?), embedding instead of linking (or vice versa), etc.  Send a bug report if you like.

hi,

nothing above works..... Whenever I open the PCB library the warning message pops up. It's only the PCB library that when opened gives the warning and unfortunately all the hard works is there

In the PCB library I created a new part and placed a 3d body but the 3D model I downloaded happened to be corrupted and now the PCB library only is stuck with the inescapable warning window

any other solution?

Are you sure there is not an Altium pop-up box sitting behind some of your open windows? Try & minimise the open windows one by one. You may be left with a pop-up box that you can then click on (close-ok-cancel) & then you will be able to continue.

If everything else fails you will have to force your computer to reboot (press the power button/press & hold in the power button or simply turn it off at the wall). Then, before opening Altium again, physically relocate your offending library to another location on your computer. Then when Altium opens it will not find the offending library & the link that caused the lock-up will be broken.

You may not be able to use that corrupted library again. You may need to download it again from the Altium Vault. You may have to rebuild that particular component by hand.

thanks guys,

but i have already done the followings-

- happend yesterday so i did restart the computer and AD
- nothing is there behind the warning window or any other window
- physically relocated the library file and tried reopening the library
- renamed it
- put another working step file in the same folder
- deleted the schematic part
- pressing ESC key continously and hitting pb does open the place 3D body window, here I tried extruded, changing the step file but not working, the warning pops up again

One thing is sure, only the pcb library is corrupt, other files and projects opens and works

how can I delete only that footprint part to which I was placing the body in the PCB library that is causing the problem?

This was a bug in AD v13 and there was a forum post in the AD forum but no solution is mentioned

looking forward for solution

You should be able to pull an older version out using the storage manager.   Not a solution, but removes the problem and gives you the ability to experiment with the problem and see if it's reproducible or if you can work around it.

Sorry to necro this topic but I've been having the same issues and seem to have found a respite that doesn't involve losing alot of work.

In 2D mode, between pressing escape to close the message, press T+M and enable everything under Bodystate in between pressing esc to close that error. Delete all the shapes that appeared on on your board, again, in between pressing escape. Recompile, Escape, Save, Escape, and close and reopen. Seems to fix the issue.

It only seems necessary to do to the problem part.

Hope this helps.

I'm experiencing the same problem. This is how I managed to get Altium out of the snit.

Close everything and then start Altium again.
Reopen the file in 2D mode.
Enable a mechanical layer that is presently disabled with nothing on that layer
Open the PCB list. Hopefully you can identify the problem item (likely the last item you added)
Click on the Identifier cell (might have to double click?)
Right click and then click on Select Rows, the entire row should now be selected for the bad object.
Change the layer for the bad object to the unused layer using the layer column selection drop down combo box in the PCB list
Now select the previously unused layer and select all on layer, and then press delete, that should get rid of it.  Save and carry on.

Worked for me.
