Cant update PCB
« on: May 04, 2023, 08:20:51 pm »
Hi,
I have been adding components to schem and pushing through to PCB, and it was fine, ...but now, whenever i do it, my schem and PCB loose synchronzation.
Do you know why this is?

Another excuse for not delivering on time? RTFM
Or, do it in Eagle, get it done, and while your customer is evaluating your product convert your files to Altium.

I have done that in Eagle.  No problems.  In fact, for any board that is much more complicated than a rectangle, I draw the board in a 2D CAD, import into Eagle, align as seems obvious to the origin, and create a package and device with or without a symbol.  That allows me to reuse the outline.

I have attached an untitled .zip that includes an Eagle .brd file with the outline for a PCB that fits a Bud case.

Hi,
Its whenever i add a resistor, and try and push it through to pcb.
It says "failed to add class member  R12 2k4"

As you've learned, Altium is a lot more complex than Eagle.  Sometimes things go wrong and the project gets into a weird state, and getting out of that can be tricky.

Sometimes deleting everything from the PCB and starting over can help.  Sometimes you need to manually massage component links.  Sometimes the project isn't configured for the way you're creating the schematic.  Sometimes you just trip over a bug.

As with your other thread, you'll need to be a LOT more specific about what's happening if you want useful help.

It says "failed to add class member  R12 2k4"

Do you get any other errors? Show us a screenshot of the update window sized so all of the text is readable.  Does the footprint for R12 get added to the PCB? What classes exist in the PCB (in PCB, Design > Classes and scroll down to the list of component classes)? What's your schematic structure? Is R12 linked between sch and pcb (in PCB, Project > Component Links and look for unmatched components)?

For this error it can help to run the update twice.

In wonder why you don't try to follow some basic tutorial.
They are freely available on YT and other places. Also, library with some basic components to get you started can be found on github.

Once you get the hang of it and understand how things are being done in AD, you can start to think about how you want to work with AD. Libraries, layer usage, DRC, project setup, generating production files,...

It's not that difficult. Just sit down, read, follow some tutorials, look at some examples, learn the keyboard shortcuts and really do EXPERIMENT...
