Changing the schlib reference of PCB footprint models
« on: April 16, 2020, 03:13:18 pm »
Hi,

I am working with Altium Designer
The company I am working for is changing its name; few years ago, the person who created the libraries decided to put the name of the company in the lib files name. Now I am to find a way to correct this with a more decent name... well, at leat not including the company name !
I have noticed when changing the library names, for every schematic component, the associated footprint refers to the old PCB library
Quote
Use footprint from component library Previous_company_name_version.pcblib

Is there a way to clean this up? Or should it be considered as legacy and will be there for ever ?

Thanks for your feedback

You should be able to

1. switch to the new libraries by selecting the components and using the property panel. it will ask you something like (do you want to update the ID?) say NO.
2. Updating components from the library to update the associated footprint

If you can send some examples documents (redacted, just a few components) i can make a how-to video tomorro.
