Copper regions not included in "unconnected net" DRC check?
« on: January 27, 2025, 12:39:09 pm »
I've got a design where I would like to have a solid polygonal copper region rather than a copper pour (so that nothing can be accidentally routed through it - I suppose I'd like to save the effort of defining a keepout overtop of a copper pour).
The copper region is supposed to be connected to GND.

For some reason, when I run the DRC check, it does not appear to check or report whether or not my copper region is connected to GND.
Is this correct?

The shape of the region and the DRC check button

The definition of the region showing it belonging to the net GND

DRC check settings 1, making sure that it reports all of the errors

DRC check settings 2, showing the "unconnected net" check is enabled

I believe Altium only cares about pads, tracks, and vias when doing unconnected net checks.

In the latest version there is an open beta you can opt into within your advanced config that will enable you to identify floating solids as un-routed nets.
