Altium DBLIbs in Solidworks PDM
« on: August 18, 2020, 02:53:51 am »
Hi,
Has anyone used DBLibs in Solidworks PDM Vault?

Our team consists of 3 EEs and occasional PCB layout contractors, and with growth in number and complexity of our board designs and part libraries, we are considering taking plunge to store ECAD data in Solidworks PDM vault to keep in sync with out ME friends and maintain a single release process. One thing I am still trying to find out from Altium repor Solidworks VAR is how to implement a unified shared component library. I am not interested in Altium Vault/365 right now since it doesn't keep us in sync with cross-functional design team. So has anyone gone down this path, and more specific questions are:
Can we store a DBLib in the PDM Vault?
Are there are any DB frontends (free or not) to use as a starting point?

Thanks!
