Jumping components
« on: September 07, 2015, 09:24:17 am »
Hi,

I've come up against a somewhat annoying feature where each time I click "update PCB document" or "import changes" a number of component footprints jump from where I placed them to their original position right of the PCB area (after going through the accept ECO process of course)

It consistently affects the same components but there aren't any common features between them which I can pin down.

Has anybody had that problem before or know a solution?

Thanks
Dan

I've seen this problem before but cant remember what the solution was.

Have you tried checking Projects / Component links  on your PCB ?
Maybe some are unmatched

haha, thanks for that! looks like its done the trick, I'm not sure how the component links ended up in such tatters, but looks like there are a few who's designators don't actually match that altium had listed in the "matched" column,
I've corrected a few and its done the trick for them, so I'll do the rest and see if that solves it completely

The mismatches can occur when you cut and paste schematic parts from other schematics.

in any case, you can match up the a whole design by following the procedure in the Altium Designer Knowledge Base, Item 4724.

Fixes a whole host of issues.

I might try that on one of my projects. There is some bad object on the pcb somewhere and it crashes altium randomly. Have never manages to figure out whats causing it

Is there a link to that, i cant seem to find the item
