No, he's in Iran, which the US government has embargoed from obtaining just about anything more technologically sophisticated than a stone axe. I imagine that's his problem and a little thought would have made that obvious, and removed the temptation to impune his honesty on no, or at very best skant, evidence.
Ah yes, but riddle me this. How did he download it in the first place genius?
You've posted a grand total of 12 messages here and you think it's OK to start in on the ad-hominem attacks when someone (politely and not even particularly directly) points out you're being rude? Don't expect to last long around here...
If your initial reply wasn't so smug and condescending (polite being a guise for the true nature of your post) it would not have been a point of contention. You seemed to gloss over the fact that I wasn't sure what the US government had to do with it (Hence my smart ass remark).
Oh, you'd prefer it if I (not a US citizen) had gone out of my way to point up your (a US citizen) woeful ignorance of your own government's foreign policy rather than glossed over it? I was genuinely trying not to be impolite as far as was possible in the circumstances. I've looked back and I can honestly see nothing either smug or condescending in what I wrote. Unless, that is, that you think any criticism of you when you step out of line is somehow inately thus and I can hardly be expected to apologise for the way your mind works.
Of course, it's probably a bit much for someone educated, with a proper grasp of geography and from a civilised country to criticise you; given your age and nationality you are obviously at a sore disadvantage. I suspect that if you were actually old enough to drink you'd have been in enough bars to learn when it's a good idea to shut up; call a man a thief in the wrong bar and you'll get pummelled. Getting mildly told off here is a pale shade of the more direct approach that Billy-Bob is going to take with a pool cue. I'm somewhat tempted to futher lay into you just to prove a point but it would be unfair to start a battle of wits with an unarmed man, sorry I mean boy.
There, that's what "smug and condescending" sounds like. [My apologies to the many other fine young people and 'merkins who inhabit this forum - you know I'm just saying it to make a point.]
I was simply establishing whether the copy was legitimate, which is a fair question to ask on this forum. It was a perfectly reasonable conclusion to draw to when the sanctions weren't even on my radar so to speak.
No you didn't attempt to establish anything, you outright accused the OP of theft - "sounds like you stole your copy of AD". That's not a "fair question to ask on this forum", it's not a question at all, it's a direct accusation and since then the facts have proved you wrong. Instead of trying to deflect attention from yourself by picking a fight with me, you owe him an apology or, if you don't have the balls for that then do the nearest honorable thing, which is to get your coat and skulk off.
And now I'm going to hit the "ignore thread" button and leave our young friend to stew in his own juices. Unfortunately I can't (lawfully) help the OP, the British Government tends to be a bit of a lickspittle when it comes to dealing with the US Government, and I really have got better things to do than get into a slanging match with some young scallywag who I suspect won't learn how to conduct himself properly in company until he's been to a few of the aforementioned bars and had some of the corners (probably literally) knocked off him. I'm sure he'll learn eventually but I haven't the time, patience or inclination to be his teacher.
