DNI/DNP without variants
(1/1)
Scutarius:
Hi,
I (think) know and understand how variants work, I am just curious if any use DNI/DNP components in any different way.
Some times I have one jumper or a couple of resistors in parallel/series with something else just in case for the first rev, if I don't want to create a variant is there any "right" way to do it? how do you normally manage it?
Thanks,

I just use a variant :-//
Our project templates are setup with a 'standard' variant used for all outjob outputs by default, so it's already there whenever I need to toggle a part.
You can also create specific "DNI" or "TBD" components for your standard passives and place those in lieu of a standard part. I frequently use the latter for parts I'll come back and calculate values for later, but I'm not a fan of leaving either part on production BOMs -- using Altium's DNI flag via the selected variant lets those parts get filtered/grouped more effectively, and if you sometimes use variants anyway, better to be consistent and use variants for all DNI parts IMHO.

Some people set the value to DNP for those DNP parts.
