Flat designator naming in design using channels

Is there any way to have flat component designator naming while using channels? I'm using channels for the gate drive in a 3 phase inverter, and the naming of components between channels is C42_1, C42_2, C42_3, etc, while I'd prefer C42, C43, C44 etc. I definitely like only having to change one component when making an edit, and having all the parts change.
