Generate separate drill file for via filling in Altium 16
« on: June 25, 2021, 08:47:35 am »
Hello

For a current PCB design I have "Via In Pad." I want to manufacture the PCB with Eurocircuit.

Eurocircuit recommends to use "Via filling" for this.
https://www.eurocircuits.com/pcb-design-guidelines-via-filling/

The guideline says to define these vias in a separate drill file.

Is there a way to generate a separate drill file with the selected via for filling?

I don't see any obvious way. Can you use the CAM editor to delete the non-filled holes and then save that as a separate file?
Otherwise have to manually text edit the nc file.

Another thing you could do, is making the hole size of the filled vias an odd number, for example 0.31mm or 0.305mm instead of 0.3mm and communicate this to the manufacturer.
Than they know that those sizes should be the same, but they can identify the filled ones.

But I think that plugging vias is billed by the manufacturing step, regardless of how many vias are involved?
